SUMMARY:Online Service: Emergent Leadership
DESCRIPTION:The best leadership is not imposed from outside or above\, it arises organically from within. Even preschoolers can organize spontaneously to achieve a goal. The group may end up deferring to the person with the best ideas or the clearest ways of communicating them. A group member may take the lead\, follow a leader’s direct commands\, or take on a specialist role and solve a subproblem and bring it back to the group. Drawing on psychological and sociological research\, I’ll talk about how leadership emerges in a group\, and how to participate most effectively\, whether you lead or follow or some of both. \nThis week’s speaker will be Eva-Lise Carlstrom. \nAfter the talk\, we’ll have a group discussion to explore the ideas presented\, and to share related thoughts\, resources\, and personal experiences. \nThis is an online event hosted on Zoom.
