In the 10 years that Seattle Atheist Church has been serving our community we have endured many challenges. The global pandemic shifted our meetings to fully online, but the new format allowed us to gain members from around the world. Secular socials once a month continue providing opportunities for people in the area to meet in person. We have had leadership changes when founding members left to pursue other goals. The Board of Directors was rebuilt and is leading the way for continued growth. Finally, we have dealt with the confusion, both external and even within our own membership, about what exactly we are. Even though we generally agreed on what we were trying to do and why we gathered, we struggled with a formal definition. The vibes were there, but the verbs weren’t. To help with that, and to lay the groundwork for the future of the Church, we formalized our Mission, Vision, and Values.
At the Seattle Atheist Church our mission is cultivating community rooted in reason and compassion to support atheists and promote humanist values. We envision a world where everyone has secular community support for learning, growing, and doing good for good reasons. Our top-level values are reason, compassion, and joy.
Join us in celebrating how we’ve grown over the last 10 years and in reflecting about how we’d like to grow over the next 10!

Since we’re holding our celebration online we won’t be able to provide a cake to share, but we’d still like to enjoy some celebratory sweets together.
